Product Care
Cuffs
All Lucy Folk pieces are handcrafted with care by skilled artisans.
To place your cuff on, slip the opening over the narrowest part of your wrist and adjust gently to secure your optimal fit.
For lasting wear, adjust your cuff to fit your wrist only once. When removing your cuff, bending or stretching it can repeatedly lead to damage or breakage.
Diamonds
Diamonds love a little attention, treat them kindly and they’ll shine forever.
Over time, natural oils, dust and everyday wear can dull their brilliance, which is why
regular cleaning makes such a difference.
To keep them sparkling, begin with a soft jewellery cloth to gently polish the surface. For a deeper clean, we recommend using our Jewellery Cleaner with a soft brush to restore their brilliance.
Pearls and Opals
Pearls and opals are treasures of nature, luminous yet delicate. Their beauty can fade if exposed to water, heat or harsh chemicals, which is why a little care goes a long way.
Keep them dry; avoid showering or swimming while wearing your pieces. After each wear, wipe pearls gently with a lint-free cloth and store them in the protective pouch or box provided (never in an airtight container).
To preserve their smooth surface and soft glow, avoid sudden temperature changes, abrasive surfaces and contact with cosmetics, hairspray, perfume or household cleaners. Professional cleaning will help maintain their natural radiance over time.
Coloured Gemstones
Examine your jewellery regularly to ensure settings are snug and clasps and joinings are secure.
Take care to protect your jewellery from impact against hard or abrasive surfaces. Avoid snagging prong settings on clothing as this may cause a loosening of the setting, risking the loss of a gemstone.
Extreme temperatures, over exposure to bright light, ultrasonic cleaning and household chemicals can damage or discolour gemstones.
Eyewear
Lucy Folk eyewear is crafted to be worn and treasured with the right care, it will remain part of your everyday ritual for years to come. Dust and daily wear can affect the clarity of your lenses, which is why gentle cleaning is so important.
Use the cloth provided with a mild lens solution to clean your eyewear. Avoid cleaning lenses when dry, as dust particles can scratch the surface.
Take care not to overextend the arms when putting your eyewear on and avoid resting them on the crown of your head, as this can loosen the screws. Between wears, store your eyewear in its protective pouch and we recommend regular servicing with a trusted optometrist.
9ct and 18ct Gold
Gold is enduring but not indestructible. Its surface can scratch if knocked or brushed against harder materials, which is why mindful wear and gentle cleaning help preserve its radiance.
Between professional servicing, maintain your gold pieces with a non-abrasive cleaner. Warm, soapy water and a soft brush will refresh them with ease. Rinse well after cleaning and dry completely with a soft cloth before wearing,
To protect your gold, avoid exposure to perfume, cosmetics, household bleach or chlorine, as these can cause discolouration or weaken the metal over time.
Sterling Silver
Silver shines brightest when it’s worn pieces loved and lived in often need less care. We encourage you to wear your silver every day.
Sterling silver can tarnish quickly when exposed to salty air, chlorine, household chemicals or products containing sulphur. To remove tarnish, we recommend using a non-abrasive silver polish.
For regular cleaning, apply a quality silver polish with a soft cloth or sponge. Rub gently in straight, even strokes along the length of the piece. A small natural bristle brush can be used for hard to reach areas.
Finish by washing in mild, soapy water, ensuring all polish is removed. Rinse well in warm water, dry thoroughly, and buff gently with a soft cloth to restore its glow.
Worn often and cared for well, silver develops a beauty all its own.
Plated Metals
Plated metals hold their beauty best when treated with care. Because they are more delicate, they can be vulnerable to chipping or fading over time but mindful wear can greatly extend the life of each piece between re-plating.
Avoid extreme temperatures, prolonged exposure to bright light, chlorine, perfumes, cosmetics, ultrasonic cleaning, and household chemicals. Always remove plated jewellery before swimming, showering, exercising, or moisturising. To protect against scratches, avoid stacking plated rings or bracelets, and take care to keep pieces from hard or abrasive surfaces.
For gentle cleaning, use warm water with a very soft brush; add a mild soap only when necessary. Dry with a soft cloth and finish with a jewellery cleaning cloth. Store your plated jewellery in the protective pouch or box provided between wears.
With careful attention, plated metals can be enjoyed and treasured for years before needing restoration.
Organic Cotton
Our organic cotton textiles are designed with longevity in mind, yet they appreciate gentle care to preserve their shape, colour and detailing.
Each piece includes a care label with the most appropriate instructions for its composition. Where possible, hand wash in cold water (below 30°C) using a mild, natural detergent. After washing, gently reshape the garment and lay it flat to dry in the shade, helping to maintain its colour vibrancy.
Avoid tumble drying, as heat can damage fibres and delicate embellishments. If pressing is required, use a cool iron on the reverse side with a press cloth to protect the fabric. When travelling or storing, we recommend hanging your pieces in a cool, dry place, away from direct light and moisture.
With the right care, your cotton will soften and age beautifully, becoming a lasting part of your wardrobe.
Silk
Silk is a fabric of elegance and delicacy, with a natural lustre that deserves thoughtful care.
Many of our silk pieces feature specialised finishes, which is why we recommend dry cleaning to best preserve their hand feel and shine.
To protect the colour and appearance, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. For creases, use a gentle steamer or a cool iron on the reverse side with a press cloth.
For long-term storage, keep silk in a breathable garment bag in a cool, dry place, shielded from the elements. With careful attention, silk retains its radiance softening with time while keeping its timeless appeal.
Towelling
Our towelling pieces are crafted for comfort and ease yet benefit from gentle care to preserve their softness and colour.
Hand wash in cold water (below 30°C) with a mild, natural detergent to protect the fibres.
Lay flat to dry in the shade, as direct sunlight can cause fading.Because of the fabric’s looped texture, small pulls may occur over time simply trim loose threads carefully to keep the surface looking fresh.
Avoid wringing or twisting, as this can stretch the fibres and alter the shape. With mindful care, towelling will hold its shape and comfort, season after season.
Knitwear
Our knitwear is crafted from natural fibres and intricate stitches, which makes it beautifully soft and sensitive to snagging and abrasion.
Handle with care and where possible, we recommend professional dry cleaning to help preserve the hand feel.
Store your knitwear folded rather than hung to prevent stretching and keep it in a cool, dry place. If pilling occurs, use a premium electric pilling tool with light pressure, as too much force can damage the knit structure.
To protect the delicate texture, avoid prolonged contact with uneven surfaces and accessories.Treated gently, knitwear only grows softer with time.
