WANDERINGS IN ANTIPAROS

A Cycladian Rhythm.

LF JEWELS, AS WILDFLOWERS

CURATED BY BESS

Spring speaks its own language of renewal, possibility, and the pull toward exploration. Flowers have always marked the change of season, their scent and colour arriving with the first light of the season.

To celebrate these healing natural wonders, we asked florist and native wildflower expert Bess, of Bess Paddington, to forage the stories already growing wild in the LF world, matching native wildflowers to the mythologies that live within each piece.

Discover the native flowers worth seeking out this season, and what to wear while you forage for them.

NOURISH

Bess Scott founded the store BESS Paddington in 2018 with her partner Jack to celebrate Australian native wildflowers. Bess is a fifth-generation Australian native florist, a flower legacy that began with her great-grandmother’s Veronica flower shop in 1950.

That lineage runs through her grandfather Colin Scott, an early pioneer of native wildflower bouquets and grower at Menai and Rookwood, and her father Craig Scott, who continued the family's East Coast Wildflowers stand at the Sydney Markets and helped create the medal bouquets for the 2000 Sydney Paralympics.

SLOW DOWN

THE PERGIALI

A family-run institution, serving unfussy food with a locals-only vibe. Nothing here is trying to impress you. Go for lunch, order whatever's fresh off the coal-fire grill that day. Have the fresh catch of the day and then walk to the beach from the path in front of the taverna for a swim after. Best to wear your sarong for maximum feast to float behaviour.

INDULGE

THE FARM HOUSE

The Farm House is a short drive from The Rooster, and a true extension of their slow living philosophy. In the kitchen, chef Carolina Doriti uses all organically grown vegetables from the garden. Wild herbs are dotted throughout the gardens, the smell of fresh bread from their bakery fills the air, and you can even visit the chickens that lay your eggs (guarded by the famous Rooster).

FEAST

YAPA

Yapa is a project from Milano, having recently landed on the island. Their philosophy is built on salt, herbs, citrus, and smoke. Fresh seafood and mezcal cocktails, right in the middle of town. Go later than you think you should; it only gets better as the night settles in.

SWIM

FARAROMENI BEACH

Dip in the crystal-clear sea at the secluded cove of Fararomeni, on the north tip of the island. Go early in the morning or late in the evening, when the sunshine is soft and you have the sand to yourself.
