MONTHLY MANTRA | MAY

Welcome to the Monthly Mantra. A moment to pause, reflect, and realign.

Each month, we share a curated edit of insights, symbols, and rituals to carry with you—guided by the monthly mantra of our founder, Lucy Folk.

This edition explores the grounding energy of May: a celebration of renewal through the vibrant green of its birthstone, and an astrological reading from Jules Ferrari illuminating the steady strength of Taurus.

Consider this a compass for the month ahead—intuitive, earthly, and lightly adorned.

Taurus | An Astrological Reading By Jules Ferrari

Growing Pleasure: As The Earth Meets Venus

As we step into the season of Taurus, we enter the Earth-elements expression of Venus; the sensual, the tactile. This is the cultivation of daily life as a living art form, ritualised. In Taurus we can ask when needed, well what would Venus do? Venus/Aphrodite, the goddess who rose fully formed from the sea had no conditioning, no socialisation - she was always pulsing and vibrating at her full and natural capacity. A talisman for all of us who want to imbue our lives with more of our own sacred self worth and value.

This is a month to show ourselves that we value ourselves. The Earth element is all about that practical application. It's not about concept, it wants evidence.

From March 2nd - April 13th Venus retrograded through Aries and Pisces, making her pilgrimage from night star to morning star, an initiation for all of us in noticing what our standards and values are with ourselves and in the life we lead. From May 1st she re-enters Aries, the sign of our wants, needs and desires, our will and action. Now we take the intuitive juice that we received through her retrograde and we begin to embody those desires.

Now is the time to act upon the psychic data that came to you during her retrograde.

Make the moves, be bold, lead yourself.

For this month, can you view your life and yourself as a sacred pleasure garden that you get to tend to with devotion?

What does that look like, practically?

What habits and rituals and ways to self-talk can you drench yourself in?

How can you amplify the sensuality of your daily life?

May Birthstones
Emerald & Tsavorite

May is traditionally celebrated with emerald—a stone long associated with renewal, growth, and the abundance of spring. Beloved by royals and revered in ancient cultures, its deep green hue speaks to intuition, transformation, and the heart.

At Lucy Folk, we honour this sentiment through a stone that aligns with our design philosophy: tsavorite. A member of the garnet family, tsavorite offers an intense, luminous green—one that carries the energy of new life, yet feels distinctly contemporary. Naturally vibrant and brilliantly clear, tsavorite brings both beauty and strength to our fine jewellery. It embodies the same symbolism as emerald—abundance, clarity, connection—while offering a fresh perspective, a colour that feels alive.

Whether chosen for a birthday, a personal milestone, or a quiet moment of self-celebration, tsavorite reflects the spirit of May in all its lush, grounded brilliance. A reminder that growth, like green, is always in season.

Wasabi Jewels: Set with tsavorite garnets, inspired by the vintage teapots and wasabi graters we admired in Japan. Celebrating the quiet beauty of everyday objects, they honour their timeless design and the reverence we have for them. A tribute to the art of food and the rituals that shape our lives.

Nourish
Wasabi: A Study in Vitality

Bold, bright, and unapologetically alive—wasabi is more than a condiment. Rooted in ritual and revered in Japanese culture, its sharp heat is a sensory jolt that awakens the body and clears the mind.

Traditionally paired with raw fish to honour its natural antibacterial properties, wasabi’s benefits go deeper: anti-inflammatory compounds, antioxidant richness, and circulatory support are among its quiet strengths. It is a plant of purpose—healing, cleansing, protecting.

At Lucy Folk, wasabi becomes a symbol. Of vitality. Of clarity. Of ritual in the everyday. Whether carved into jewellery or evoked in motif, it invites boldness and balance, heat and harmony.

In our Artefact collection, the Wasabi story honours the quiet beauty of domestic forms—vintage teapots, hand-crafted graters, everyday tools reimagined. Objects of function, elevated into talismans.

Just like the plant itself, this story lives at the intersection of energy and elegance. A celebration of the senses. A reminder to remain awake.

Enlighten
Japanese Pebble Wave Gardens

A moment of stillness, drawn in sand. The Japanese pebble wave garden is a study in impermanence—raked lines that mimic the rhythm of water, only to be smoothed and redrawn again.

These quiet landscapes are acts of devotion. Meditation made visible. A gesture repeated with purpose and care.

In the Artefact collection, the Pebble Wave story honours this philosophy. Jewellery shaped by hand to reflect fluid motion, formed in solid gold to echo something fleeting. Rings, pendants, and cuffs that trace the idea of movement stilled—organic yet precise, grounded yet free.

We invite you to experience this meditative practice in person. Our Bondi Beach store now features a Pebble Wave Garden, a living installation to pause, reflect, and engage with the art of stillness.
