Lucy Folk has joined hands with Melbourne based not-for-profit social enterprise, The Social Studio (TSS), to create a consciously minded hat capsule collection.
This unique partnership brings forth the launch of three exclusive patchwork hats crafted from deadstock towelling and off-cuts from previous collections provided by Lucy Folk, designed specifically for the vibrant Australian summer.
“After doing a small run of cushion covers for Lucy Folk earlier in the year made from their excess towelling, we had a mixture of off-cuts leftover. Instead of throwing away these pieces, we found a way to re-use them and create a unique product that not only gave them a second life but also a way to support the work we do here at the Studio”
Lois McGruer-Fraser, Production Manager at TSS.
Description
This collaboration emphasizes the importance of upcycling and repurposing materials to create pieces that and environmentally responsible and minimise waste. It marks a significant step towards promoting a more conscious approach to design and production.
“Our towelling collections has been fundamental the development of the Lucy Folk brand, we have a very special relationship with our supplier, it’s an exclusive fabric for the Australian market”, says Folk, “introducing these hats means that we can minimise waste of this beautiful fabric and create something for our customer that reflects our commitment to craftsmanship and innovation.”
