In Conversation With Mylee Grace and Anna Feller

To mark the newly launched Lucy Folk x Fella Swim collection, we spoke with the two faces of our campaign. The spirited Australian singer and musician Mylee Grace and the divine model and entrepreneur Anna Feller on location in Queensland. They teach us about ‘mum power mode’, the women they admire, morning rituals and more...

What is the LF x Fella Swim mood?

MG: Idyllic, luxurious, exotica, yet still practical.
AF: Always summer ahead, long days at the beach in the surf, pops of colour & hanging with my best friends.

Where do you want to be wearing LF x Fella?

MG: Caribbean reggae bar.
AF: Anywhere the sun is shining! This summer I will be wearing it in Bondi, Broken Head and a quick trip to Puerto Escondido!

Do you have a favourite style in the new collection?

MG: The River Full Piece in Bleu.
AF: I love the Caramel Full Piece and the Bleu High Waisted Bottoms and Triangle Top.

High Rise or Low Rise?

MG: High rise for hiking and low rise for sun worshipping
AF: High high high!

What’s the first thing you do when you wake you in the morning?

MG: Turn the coffee machine on, feed our cat then stretch out on the rug.
AF: Cuddle my son for a min then try and sneak out of bed to make a coffee and a look at any overseas emails before jumping into school lunch/ school run mum mode.

How does your background influence your work?

MG: Lessons learned spur my current creative journeys. Always looking forward and striving to be grateful for past experiences both negative and positive. I get bored easily and like to stay open to trying out different mediums and ways of working.
AF: I am always inspired by different times, experiences and places in my life, I guess this oozes into my work softly.

What does it mean to be a mum?

MG: Being a mum to me is a call to step into full power mode. I don’t think anyone gets it right, however, motherhood is an indescribable journey of juggling and loving. Forever learning when to serve and when to step back and allow the kids to figure it out for themselves. There are so many layers to motherhood. The gentle listener, the warrior, the intuitive protector, the unconditional love giver, the producer and the punching bag.
AF: Being a mother is everything to me, nothing comes before that. I could honestly stare at my son all day long, the biggest love of my life.

Who are some women you admire?

MG: Frida Kahlo, I have been obsessed with her work and tenacity since I was a child. Pussy Riot, who are a Russian feminist protest and performance punk rock art group. Helena Norberg - Hodge for her passion for the importance of localisation and connection to community. Local Politician and comedian Mandy Nola. All of my friends who inspire me every time I’m in their company. Oh and Patti Smith for obvious reasons.
AF: I have a very strong admiration for all the women I flock with - they are all mad creatives with passion & drive, wonderful admirable mothers & gentle souls. Very lucky to call them all my best friends.

What’s the last thing you read or listened to?

MG: I’m trying to change my relationship with money and abundance. I just finished ‘You Are A Badass At Making Money‘ By Jen Sincero.
AF: Currently reading The Surrender Experiment by Michael A. Singer.

What’s one project you’ve worked on that you’re most proud of?

MG: I’m proud that I recorded and released my debut album last year. There are things I would have done differently if I did it all over again however, the fact I completed the project from start to finish is particularly what I’m proud of.
AF: I am always proud of any work I get to do with my pals.

What’s your hidden talent?

MG: I painted my daughter’s nails yesterday and I think I did a pretty good job.
AF: I’m quite a good cook when I actually do cook... so I hear.

What does the word summer mean to you?

MG: Long effervescent days of sunshine and salty hair.
AF: It’s funny, life always feels like a rebirth as soon as summer comes back around again. End of a school year, some time off work, sun kissed skin, lots of swimming in the ocean and long days usually spent somewhere in nature, time with friends and family, usually many good times.

What is your favourite food?

MG: Olives.
AF: Anything very healthy, alkaline always a win for me - authentic Japanese & very rustic Italian when eating out.

What does the world need more of in 2023?

MG: Kinship, environmental care, honourable politicians, equality and rescue remedy.
AF: Always love & kindness.

What is on your Lucy Folk Wishlist?

MG: Would be impossible to choose. I love all Lucy Folk so much. I’m going to say, Siren Bolo necklace is up there.
AF: Everything always - Lucy Folk for president please! Assal Bell Sleeve Jacket is high in my lust list currently!
