Sarongs have become a fundamental building block in every Lucy Folk collection, a piece that will always reshape and transform itself in infinite twists and ties. So, we ask ourselves has there ever been a more functional and versatile wardrobe addition?
Deeply rooted in Southeast Asian culture, the sarong is one of the oldest known pieces of clothing symbolising united and harmonious co-existence and favouring vibrant colours, special dying techniques and abstract designs.
Now, firmly adapted to be packed into the solar charged capsule wardrobe of any wanderer chasing the sun, the sarong can be more than a tied width of fabric. Think of the sarong as your saltwater accoutrement, from a lightweight throw that is just as good for drying off as it is for laying out, or delicately draped and tied dress to the ruler of them all the wrap skirt to set a very colourful mood.
THE WRAP SKIRT
The skirt is and undoubtedly the go to for any newcomer to the sarong world. Easily worn at both a maxi or thigh skimming length, this is piece that takes a moment to wrap and secure at the tip.
HOW TO TIE A WRAP SKIRT:
Bring the two corners of the short edge together and fold in half.
Wrap the long edge of the sarong around your waist leaving one corner free at your hip
Tie the two ends together in a knot.
THE TWIST TOP
In a piece that feels unexpected, yet not overdone… comes the Twist Top. Creating armholes from carefully places knot ties and then wrapping the fabric expertly around the body can take you from hiking to dinner in one fell swoop.
THE HEAD WRAP
A sarong doesn't just have to just be the usual top or skirt you've come to expect. Why not transform your printed sarong into a head wrap as a colourful accessory to pair with your summer look.
There are no set rules when it comes to tying a head wrap - do what feels right for you!
THE DRESS
The easiest transition from beach to bar, make way for the sarong dress. Simply take the two corners of the long end and wrap the sarong around the body to tie the ends at your neck like a halter. For an extra considered detail, add an extra twist at the neck.
