Welcome to the Monthly Mantra.

A moment to pause, reflect, and realign. Each month, we share a curated edit of insights, symbols, and rituals to carry with you—guided by the monthly mantra of our founder, Lucy Folk.

In July, we welcome the emotional depth and creative intuition of Cancer season, guided by the strength and symbolism of the ruby: a gem of passion, vitality and self-trust.

This month’s guiding star is Cancer, the intuitive water sign. Jules Ferrari shares a cosmic reading that invites you to lean into emotion, embrace softness, and protect your sacred inner world. Paired with ruby’s bold presence and July’s mid-winter glow, this is a time for warmth, connection, and energetic renewal.

Consider this a compass for the month ahead—intuitive, earthly, and lightly adorned.

Cancer| An Astrological Reading By Jules Ferrari

Amplifying the meaning of inner/ outer home.

July begins nestled in the warmth of Cancer. Cancer is the first of the water signs and one that is partly experienced through primal emotions, those first waves of emotion that meet us in any given experience. The crab is its own home and has a protective and hard shell to live within. Part of the journey of this archetype is towards vulnerability, that shell can be a wall that keeps us at arms length from both self and others and the more that we can learn how to healthily self-soothe and tend to our inner emotional landscapes, the safer we will feel.

Spending time here is how we will understand the knowings encoded within our emotions and learn this liminal language for ourselves. How many of us were taught to minimise our feelings or move out of them and into the mind as fast as possible? For many of us, Cancer is a season in being the inner parent to our inner child, checking in, soothing, tending to.

We are now a few weeks into Jupiter’s year long transit in this sign and will naturally be feeling into what makes our inner and outer home, our inner and outer worlds a meaningful place to reside. We are expanding what is possible for us here. What makes your home life deeply resonant to you? What makes your inner world deeply resonant? Even Crabs outgrow their shells.

On July 8th (til November 9th) we have one of the largest planetary shifts of the year when Uranus moves into Gemini. Uranus is a great liberator and rebel, riding the first waves of consciousness and here in the realm of communications, ideas and thought forms we have a recipe for telepathy. For heightened claircognisance and whole new realms of consciousness landing through the plane of ideas. This is conduit energy. Prioritise grounding yourself, partaking in all of the things that make you feel present in your body and in present time. This period will feel fast and electric. If pen to paper is too slow for you then you may want to record your ideas in voice notes.

Mercury will retrograde through Leo from 18th July – 11th August, giving you the reflection time to contemplate how you express yourself in your world.

Does it feel authentic and true to you?

What modes of expression bring you the most vitality?

If you feel stagnant in this area, movement is your ally. This is a time to dance. To write out the lists of what brings you joy, of what feels fun and makes life playful. And then most importantly, to do those things. Leo season will begin on July 23rd and with the Sun in its home territory of self expression and vitality, we are reminded that we are our like suns too, shining, vital and pulsing life when we tend to the things that deeply resonate with us.

Cancer | Dates To Note

Full Moon In Capricorn

Friday 11th July

This is the Full Moon that illuminates our foundational axis, showing us the marriage or the disconnect between our inner and domestic worlds and our outer responsibilities and roles. Intuitions about new directions or slight tune-ups will abound, if needed. You can ask to be shown anything you need to see about the directions of your life.

New Moon In Leo

Friday 25th July

You came here to be the full-time version of You and no-one else. This is a New Moon to celebrate life and the joy of aliveness.

July Birthstone
Ruby

At Lucy Folk, we’re drawn to gemstones that carry both energy and story. The ruby, July’s birthstone, has long been a symbol of courage, love, and vitality. Beloved across cultures, it’s said to stoke the heart’s fire, encouraging clarity of purpose and strength in feeling.

We love the ruby for its radiant depth and rare intensity. Worn close to the skin, it’s thought to inspire confidence, increase energy, and protect the wearer from negative forces. In our jewellery, we often pair ruby with warm 9ct gold and textural detail, creating modern heirlooms rooted in mythology and emotion.

Explore ruby-accented jewels in our Artefact and limited edition collections—each piece carrying a sense of purpose, protection, and personal resonance.
